This ‘La Isla’ (the Island) lot is an ideal example of the dividends paying off!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLa Isla lot is one of the oldest lots at Las Mercedes. Its 9 hectares are planted under 100% Caturra, a variety well suited to the plot’s high altitude of 1,700 and 1,900 metres above sea level.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis La Isla lot has been selectively hand harvested before being delivered to Las Mercedes’ state-of-the-art mill to be pulped on the same day. After pulping the coffee is fermented twice! The first fermentation is anaerobic, occurring at cool temperatures for 25 hours. The department of Santander extends over Colombia's eastern Andes range, close to the border with Venezuela. The region is known for it's coffee growing and conditions for coffees with good body \u0026amp; lower acidity, which this coffee perfectly displays. The coffee is grown at around 1600 - 1900 m.a.s.l.
